T\u00e9lescopage des massifs rocheux.
Propuls\u00e9 par des moteurs \u00e0 r\u00e9action tournant \u00e0 plein r\u00e9gime, un jet priv\u00e9 tron\u00e7onna l\u2019espace au-dessus d\u2019un vaste enchev\u00eatrement de montagnes aux pentes escarp\u00e9es. Apr\u00e8s un virage sur l\u2019aile, l\u2019appareil mit le cap sur une base militaire situ\u00e9e dans une vall\u00e9e d\u00e9sertique, prot\u00e9g\u00e9e par des versants abrupts. Une d\u00e9fense a\u00e9rienne en alerte permanente, dot\u00e9e de radars de surveillance longue port\u00e9e, excluait toute approche hostile de cette base ultra secr\u00e8te dont l\u2019existence ne figurait sur aucune image satellite visualisant cette partie du globe terrestre. La descente achev\u00e9e, le jet priv\u00e9 se posa sur une piste d\u2019atterrissage au bout de laquelle, guid\u00e9 par la tour de contr\u00f4le, il disparut dans un tunnel perc\u00e9 dans le flanc du massif montagneux. La construction en b\u00e9ton arm\u00e9 grouillait de soldats en uniforme. Les moteurs du jet \u00e9teints, un homme en costume trois-pi\u00e8ces, cal\u00e9 dans un fauteuil roulant, apparut en haut d\u2019un escalier amovible, install\u00e9 \u00e0 la porte de l\u2019appareil par une \u00e9quipe de techniciens. D\u00e8s que les roues du fauteuil roulant touch\u00e8rent le sol, Roy Kingley se dirigea vers un homme en civil, post\u00e9 devant un tout-terrain blind\u00e9. Les deux hommes \u00e9chang\u00e8rent une poign\u00e9e de main. Mont\u00e9s \u00e0 bord du v\u00e9hicule, ils furent d\u00e9pos\u00e9s devant un abri antiatomique, dont Ross Norton, muni d\u2019un badge d\u2019acc\u00e8s, fit coulisser la porte d\u2019entr\u00e9e. Visiblement familier des lieux, Roy Kingley emprunta le couloir menant vers le poste de commandement o\u00f9, plong\u00e9s dans la r\u00e9vision de leurs dossiers, trois hommes en costume-cravate attendaient sa venue. Les salutations furent rapides mais chaleureuses. Unis par des int\u00e9r\u00eats id\u00e9ologiques communs, les hommes pr\u00e9sents au poste de commandement travaillaient ensemble depuis des ann\u00e9es, habitu\u00e9s \u00e0 g\u00e9rer en \u00e9quipe soud\u00e9e n\u2019importe quelle crise. Roy Kingley s\u2019installa \u00e0 sa place en t\u00eate de la table de travail, v\u00e9rifia que tous les syst\u00e8mes de cyberd\u00e9fense \u00e9taient activ\u00e9s, coupa la vid\u00e9osurveillance de la salle. Il s\u2019agissait d\u2019une r\u00e9union confidentielle. Rien de ce qui serait dit entre les murs de cet abri ne devait filtrer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Ses livres sont traduits dans plusieurs langues. Il vit \u00e0 Paris.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
