Sarah-Lee se leva tard. \u00c7a faisait tellement de bien de pouvoir dormir tard.
Bient\u00f4t 10 heures. Elle n\u2019\u00e9tait pas m\u00e9contente d\u2019\u00eatre en vacances. Ses journ\u00e9es \u00e0
l\u2019h\u00f4pital \u00e9taient longues et fatigantes. Elle avait la plupart du temps la t\u00eate sous
l\u2019eau, devant notamment faire face \u00e0 un continuel tsunami de mails. On lui
demandait ceci, on lui r\u00e9clamait cela. Entre deux r\u00e9unions. OK, elle \u00e9tait l\u00e0 pour
\u00e7a ; c\u2019\u00e9tait son job. N\u2019emp\u00eache que dans un monde id\u00e9al avec un h\u00f4pital public
mieux dot\u00e9, il aurait fallu un quatri\u00e8me ing\u00e9nieur biom\u00e9dical. \u00c7a n\u2019aurait pas \u00e9t\u00e9
de trop pour une bo\u00eete de cette taille. Pr\u00e8s de mille quatre cents lits. Plus de sept
mille personnels m\u00e9dicaux et non m\u00e9dicaux, soit le plus gros employeur de la
ville ! Enfin, heureusement, jusqu\u2019\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, Sarah-Lee n\u2019avait toujours re\u00e7u, in
fine<\/em>, que des louanges.
Dans la p\u00e9nombre des volets clos et ajour\u00e9s, elle passa son pull gris en
cachemire avec un trou de mite \u00e0 l\u2019\u00e9paule par-dessus son pyjama qui b\u00e2illait de
haut en bas. Un pull The Kooples achet\u00e9 en solde, un pyjama Monoprix. Elle ne
voulait plus que Pierre mette ses pulls et ses cardigans \u00e0 s\u00e9cher au grenier, avec
le reste du linge. Elle savait que les mites vestimentaires raffolent des fibres
d\u2019origine animale.
\u00ab Mais je t\u2019assure que je n\u2019ai jamais vu aucune mite au grenier \u00bb, disait Pierre.
En tout cas il n\u2019y en avait pas dans l\u2019appartement, elle l\u2019aurait remarqu\u00e9.
Aussi n\u2019accordait-elle qu\u2019un cr\u00e9dit limit\u00e9 \u00e0 l\u2019affirmation de son compagnon et
p\u00e8re de ses deux enfants. Ce trou ne s\u2019\u00e9tait quand m\u00eame pas fait tout seul. Elle
attrapa une paire de chaussettes dans la valise rest\u00e9e grande ouverte au beau
milieu de sa chambre. D\u2019incertaines arabesques couraient sur le papier peint \u00e0
fond blanc recouvrant les murs. C\u2019est Sarah-Lee qui l\u2019avait choisi ; ses parents
lui ayant propos\u00e9 de changer celui orn\u00e9 de berg\u00e8res et de bergers qui, pourtant,
l\u2019avaient vu grandir. Ce sont les derniers travaux que Jean avait faits dans la
maison, un peu avant de mourir, changer le papier peint de la chambre de Sarah-
Lee, remplacer les berg\u00e8res et les bergers d\u00e9fra\u00eechis et d\u00e9suets par des
arabesques. Pierre n\u2019avait pas propos\u00e9 \u00e0 Sarah-Lee de lui peindre toute une
fresque sur les murs de sa chambre chez ses parents. Y avait-il seulement pens\u00e9 ?
Et elle, de son c\u00f4t\u00e9, y avait-elle pens\u00e9 ?
